How the areas around La Paz, Mexico compare

La Paz is a city on the bay, and the areas I cover run from the waterfront in town out to the beaches of La Ventana and El Sargento. Here is a short look at each, with links to the full guide.

La Paz Centro: the middle of the city, with the Malecón, cafés, restaurants and shops close by.
Esterito: right along the malecón on the edge of downtown, facing the bay, and one of the most active spots for new condo construction.
Pedregal: a quiet gated community near the Pedregal tennis center, across from Playa El Caimancito, a public beach.
La Posada: on the water north of downtown, built up mostly around a handful of gated developments.
Puerta Cortés (Costa Baja): the gated resort community at Marina Costa Baja, with its own marina, beach club and golf.
El Centenario: a calmer place out of town with more land and more value for the money. About 23 minutes (13 km) from La Paz.
La Ventana: the wind capital of Baja, about 47 minutes (48 km) from La Paz, with a wind season from October through April.
El Sargento: a quieter, more remote stretch of the same coast as La Ventana, about 55 minutes (52 km) from La Paz.
