La Paz, Mexico: What Buying Here Is Actually Like (2026)

La Paz means “peace” in Spanish, and the city lives up to it. It is a place to come, calm down and relax, with beautiful, calm turquoise water and beaches that are not crowded by big hotels. It is not the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities. The Malecon runs along the bay, and La Paz has all the amenities, with hospitals, private medical services and shopping malls, for people of all ages.

In the 12 months to October 17, 2026, 115 homes and condos sold in the city of La Paz, for a combined volume of about $35.9 million (MLS BCS, Flexmls). Condos and houses sell at very different prices, so I report them separately.

Condos: 55 sold, about $20.1 million combined, a median sold price of $335,000 and an average of $366,113, with sales from $55,556 to $2,700,000. The median condo took 191 days to sell and closed at 100% of its list price (98.0% on average).

Houses: 60 sold, about $15.8 million combined, a median sold price of $186,343 and an average of $263,437, with sales from $67,000 to $750,000. The median house took about 133 days to sell and closed at 97.0% of its list price (95.7% on average).
